Work Life Balance

Flexible, family friendly working patterns

Where possible, we try and accommodate the life styles of our staff by allowing them to work flexibly. This can include varying their start and finish times each day to work around caring responsibilities. In some cases we can offer term time working or compressed hours (working the same number of contracted hours in fewer days).

We also have an extremely generous paid leave allowance plus a number of additional public and privilege days totalling 35.5. We are even happy to consider special unpaid leave or career breaks when circumstances in life dictate.

On-site Nursery

Finding the balance between work and family is a whole lot easier at FCO Services. Our Hanslope Park on-site Nursery and Baby Unit (OFSTED registered) caters for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. It isn't uncommon for our staff to spend lunchtime with their children in the green open spaces of our site at Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes. View the most recent Ofsted inspection report for Hanslope Park Day Nursery. We also offer childcare vouchers as part of our total reward package. . For staff working in London, the FCO Nursery based in King Charles Street, may be an option for your early-years childcare.

Health and Welfare

Our team of health and welfare advisers are in place to support the well-being of our staff. This includes support for matters related to workplace and outside as well as health screening days. To date we have run clinics for cholesterol testing and well man/well woman clinics.

Contributing to the wider community

We participate in Equal Choices, a ground breaking initiative aimed at under representation of disadvantaged groups within the local workplace. This year fourteen Year 9 students visited Hanslope Park for a two-day event. They were welcomed by Nigel Morris, Services and Logistics Director and one of our Diversity Champions. The first day involved students learning about FCO Services, visiting different departments and seeing demonstrations of the work we do. The second day was spent job shadowing with a mentor. Mentors were drawn from all areas of the business including our Finance Director. Comments from the students included "Wow", "Awesome" and "Wicked".

This project illustrates the importance of guidance and experience for young people, especially where aspirations can be low and role models few.

The organisers of the project were delighted with the event and asked Nigel Morris to make a keynote speech at the subsequent awards presentation ceremony.

In addition, FCO Services pledged support to the young persons career advisor charity I-Could. Aimed at inspiring and advising young people faced with career decisions in the UK employment market.
